Planning a few days in Sali on Dugi otok? Getting there is the easy part. From Monday to Saturday the boat on state line 9406 leaves Zadar's city harbour at 05:40, 15:00 and 20:00, and every one of those calls at Sali, arriving at 06:23, 15:43 and 20:45, before going on to Zaglav. On Fridays the afternoon sailing moves to 15:30. On Sundays and public holidays the departures from Zadar are at 08:15, 17:00 and 19:05.
The return is the part to plan. From Monday to Saturday the boats back to Zadar start in Zaglav, at 06:45 and 16:05, and run straight to the city without stopping at Sali. Only on Sundays and public holidays can you board in Sali itself, at 18:10 or 20:15. If you are staying in Sali, work out in advance how you will get to Zaglav on the morning you leave.
TP Line, not Jadrolinija, holds the AOLPP contract for line 9406, and the boat takes foot passengers only. This timetable came in on 31 August and stays until the end of 2026; on 2 October there was still no 2027 version from AOLPP.

€4.20 on the fast boat, €3.19 on the once-a-day one
On line 9406 one adult fare covers Zadar to any island stop: €4.20 in the off-season, against €7.30 last summer (29 May – 27 September). Under-13s from age three pay €3.20. Hopping between the island harbours, say Sali to Zaglav, costs €3.50 out of season.
The once-a-day line 406 is cheaper: €3.19 from Zadar to Sali or Zaglav until the end of December, €4.38 in high summer, and €2.00 between Sali and Zaglav. Taxes and harbour charges are already in these prices, and the trip back costs what the trip out did.

Zadar's old-town quay and two neighbouring harbours on Dugi otok
Zadar – Liburnska obala quay, old town
The Sali boat ties up on the old-town waterfront along Liburnska obala, on the peninsula. TP Line gives this spot as the boarding point for line 9406 and asks passengers to be there at least 15 minutes before departure. Gaženica, the car-ferry terminal outside the centre, has no sailings to Sali. For the slower line 406 the timetable just says "Zadar" without naming a berth, so ask on the quay.
Sali (Dugi otok)
Sali is the first stop out of Zadar. Monday to Saturday the boat arrives at 06:23, 15:43 and 20:45 and moves on to Zaglav at 06:28, 15:48 and 20:50 (the Friday afternoon boat is later because it leaves Zadar at 15:30). Heading back to Zadar on those days, neither line 9406 nor line 406 stops here: they start from Zaglav, the next harbour along the same coast. On Sundays and public holidays the two later boats from Zadar call at Zaglav first and finish in Sali, then leave Sali for Zadar at 18:10 and 20:15.
To the south-east of Dugi otok, with an evening call on Iž
Out of Zadar the 9406 boat calls at Sali, then Zaglav; the weekday evening boat continues across to Bršanj on the island of Iž. On Sunday afternoons and evenings the order flips and the boat reaches Zaglav before Sali. Monday to Saturday the run back from Zaglav to Zadar is non-stop. No crossing time or distance is published; the timetable gives arrival times only.
What foreign visitors should know before boarding
- Old town, not the ferry port
Boats to Sali go from the waterfront on the old-town peninsula. From Gaženica the only Dugi otok sailing is the line 434 ferry, which lands at Brbinj, well away from Sali.
- Leave the hire car behind
Lines 9406 and 406 carry foot passengers and luggage only. A car bound for Dugi otok has to travel on line 434 out of Gaženica.
- Tickets online
Tickets for line 9406 are on sale in TP Line's online shop. Be at the boarding point at least 15 minutes before the boat leaves.
- The late boat and Iž
The 20:00 from Zadar leaves Bršanj out on Saturdays, in the school holidays and on national holidays, and on those evenings is back in Zadar at 21:50.
- Holiday gaps
The Sunday 17:00 from Zadar and the 18:10 back from Sali do not run on 1 and 18 November or on 24, 25 and 26 December.
A second, slower boat links the same three harbours: state line 406, which AOLPP lists as operated by G&V Line Iadera. It sails once a day except Sundays and public holidays, leaving Zadar at 10:30, reaching Sali at 11:30 and Zaglav at 11:55, then heading back from Zaglav at 12:00 to arrive in Zadar at 13:10, again without calling at Sali. Its fare is lower, €3.19 off-season. Only AOLPP's document lists these times, and G&V Line puts nothing online, so confirm on the quay before relying on it.
The evening boat's weekday detour to Bršanj links southern Dugi otok with Iž; vehicles reach the same harbour from Gaženica, as described on the page for the Gaženica – Bršanj car ferry. For a midday hop from the old-town quay to Iž there is Jadrolinija's Iž catamaran, and the north of Dugi otok has its own catamaran to Božava.
Travelling between Zadar, Sali and Zaglav: your questions
Can I catch a boat from Sali to Zadar on a weekday?
Not from Sali harbour. Monday to Saturday line 9406 leaves Zaglav for Zadar at 06:45 and 16:05 (16:40 on Fridays), and line 406 leaves Zaglav at 12:00; none of them calls at Sali on the way back. Boats leave Sali for Zadar only on Sundays and public holidays, at 18:10 and 20:15.
Does the Sali boat leave from Gaženica ferry port?
No. Line 9406 leaves from the city harbour on Liburnska obala, beside the old town. Gaženica is the car-ferry port; its only sailing to Dugi otok is line 434 to Brbinj.
What will the Sali boat cost me?
On line 9406 an adult pays €4.20 in the off-season and children from 3 to 12 pay €3.20. On the slower line 406 the adult fare is €3.19. These prices hold until 31 December 2026.
Can I bring a car or a hire car to Sali?
Not on these boats, which take foot passengers only. Vehicles go over to Dugi otok on ferry line 434, Gaženica to Brbinj.
Does every 9406 boat continue to Iž?
No. Only the 20:00 from Zadar, Monday to Friday, goes on to Bršanj on Iž, and even that one leaves Bršanj out on Saturdays, in school holidays and on national holidays.
