€4.20 is the adult single from Zadar to any stop on this line until the end of 2026, and there is exactly one departure to use it on: 10:30 from Monday to Friday, 10:00 on Saturdays. The catamaran reaches Mali Iž at 11:05, Veli Iž at 11:25 and the island of Rava at 12:00, then turns round. It is back in Zadar at 13:35 on weekdays.
That shape suits visitors staying in Zadar better than islanders, but a return on the same day is tight. On a weekday you get just over an hour in Veli Iž before the boat comes back through at 12:40. To see more of the island you need a night there, or a different return: the G&V Line boat on line 405 leaves Veli Iž at 06:10 on weekdays, and in winter the Jadrolinija car ferry leaves Bršanj at 17:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The departure point matters more than the timetable. Since 2015 Zadar's car ferries have used the port at Gaženica, south-east of the city, but this catamaran still leaves from the historic harbour on the old-town peninsula. If you are booked on line 9405, head for Liburnska obala.

A flat €4.20 to every stop on Iž and Rava
The fare does not depend on where you get off. Zadar to Mali Iž costs the same €4.20 as Zadar to Rava for the remainder of 2026, and the same single fare applies in the other direction. It already includes port dues and VAT. Over the summer season (29 May – 27 September) the adult fare was €7.70, so a summer visit costs noticeably more.
Hopping between the island stops, say Mali Iž to Veli Iž, is €2.80. You will also see a cheaper islanders' fare of €3.00 on the price list; it needs an island ID card issued by AOLPP and is not available to visitors.

The old-town quay in Zadar, and the two villages on Iž
Zadar city harbour, Liburnska obala (old-town peninsula)
This is the quay along the old-town peninsula, a short walk from the historic centre, and it is the one mistake worth avoiding: Zadar's big ferry terminal is at Gaženica, south-east of the centre, and the Iž catamaran does not go there. Jadrolinija's ticket office is at Liburnska obala 4, open 06:00–21:00 on weekdays and 07:00–22:00 at weekends and on holidays. Jadrolinija does not publish the exact berth, so ask at the office if you cannot see the boat.
Veli Iž harbour, island of Iž
Veli Iž is the larger of the island's two villages and the catamaran's second stop. In winter it arrives at 11:25 on weekdays and leaves for Zadar at 12:40, after running on to Rava and turning round. The first stop, Mali Iž, comes twenty minutes earlier. In bad weather the timetable allows the boat to use Bršanj, the ferry port on the same side of Iž, instead of Mali Iž.
Across the Zadar Channel to Iž, then on to Rava
From the old-town quay the catamaran crosses the Zadar Channel to Mali Iž on the side of Iž facing the mainland, runs along the island to Veli Iž, and then heads across to Rava, stopping at Rava Mala before finishing in Rava village. The return is the same route in reverse. Jadrolinija does not publish distances for the line.
Catching the Iž catamaran as a visitor
- Go to the old town, not Gaženica
Taxi drivers and sat-navs often assume 'ferry' means the Gaženica terminal. Line 9405 uses the quay on Liburnska obala, by the old-town peninsula.
- Leave the hire car behind
The catamaran carries foot passengers only. If you need the car on Iž, the Jadrolinija car ferry on line 435 sails from Gaženica to Bršanj.
- Buying a ticket
Buy at Jadrolinija's office at Liburnska obala 4 or through Jadrolinija's website; the offices on Iž open half an hour before departure. Jadrolinija says a ticket bought in advance guarantees a place on that sailing.
- Luggage
The catamaran is small and built for foot passengers. Keep to what you can carry on and off yourself, and check with Jadrolinija on +385 72 30 33 37 before bringing anything bulky.
- Plan round Sundays
There is no catamaran on Sundays or public holidays. The slower G&V Line boat on line 405 does run on Sundays, from Zadar at 08:00, 16:20 and 20:00.
Three separate state lines serve Iž, each built for a different traveller. The catamaran on line 9405 is the midday link for foot passengers. Line 405, a conventional passenger boat run by G&V Line Iadera, gets islanders into Zadar by 07:25 on weekdays and takes them home in the late afternoon. Jadrolinija runs one more fast line out of Zadar, north-west to the Dugi otok villages of Božava and Brbinj. Its day runs the other way round: it leaves the island at 05:30 and, Monday to Thursday, does not set out from Zadar until 14:15, so it does not combine with the Iž boat on the same day. Questions visitors ask about getting to Iž by catamaran
Which Zadar terminal does the Iž catamaran use?
The historic harbour on the old-town peninsula, along Liburnska obala, where Jadrolinija has its office at number 4. It does not use Gaženica, the car-ferry port on the city's south-eastern side.
Is Iž doable in a day from Zadar?
Only a short one. On weekdays the catamaran arrives in Veli Iž at 11:25 and leaves again at 12:40. For a longer day you would need to stay overnight or come back another way, such as the car ferry from Bršanj at 17:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in winter.
Is there a boat to Iž on Sundays?
Not this one: line 9405 does not run on Sundays or public holidays. The G&V Line passenger boat on line 405 does, leaving Zadar at 08:00, 16:20 and 20:00.
What is the fare from Zadar to Veli Iž?
Until 31 December 2026 adults pay €4.20 and children from three to twelve €3.20. It is the same to Mali Iž, Rava Mala and Rava. In the summer season the adult fare was €7.70.
What about bringing a rental car to Iž?
Not on the catamaran, which is for foot passengers only. The car ferry on line 435 leaves from Gaženica and lands at Bršanj on Iž; a car no longer than 5 metres costs €20.20 in the off-season. That fare is for the vehicle; the price-list notes exempt only bus and lorry drivers, so budget a passenger ticket for the driver as well.
What happens in bad weather?
The timetable says that in bad weather the catamaran calls at Bršanj instead of Mali Iž. If you are waiting on the island, ask the Jadrolinija office or call +385 72 30 33 37 to check which harbour is in use.
Where does the line end?
At Rava, a small island beyond Iž. The catamaran calls at Rava Mala and then Rava, and leaves Rava for Zadar at 12:05 on weekdays and 11:35 on Saturdays.
