Dubrovnik to Sobra and Polače catamaran (line 9807): Mljet by fast boat, winter and summer

Think of line 9807 as two different services. In the summer of 2026 (29 May – 27 September) TP Line's catamaran ran twice a day between Dubrovnik and Sobra and once a day each way to Polače, and in July and August it reached Korčula and Lastovo on certain days. Since 28 September only the winter core is left: one sailing a day each way between Gruž, Šipanska Luka and Sobra.

The winter timetable is written for people who live on the islands. Six days a week, Sunday excepted, the boat pulls out of Sobra at dawn, 06:00 on Mondays and 06:15 on other days, and heads back from Gruž at 14:30. Sundays and holidays move everything to the afternoon, and until 24 October it runs an hour later still: 15:00 from Sobra, 16:30 from Dubrovnik.

For a visitor staying in Dubrovnik, that rules out a winter day trip to Mljet by catamaran: you arrive in Sobra at 15:50 and the first boat back is the next morning. Šipan is easier: every sailing calls at Šipanska Luka, and the fare from Dubrovnik is €4.00.

€5.40 to Mljet in the off-season

Only the three legs that actually run in winter have off-season fares: Dubrovnik to Sobra is €5.40, and Dubrovnik to Šipanska Luka or Šipanska Luka to Sobra €4.00 each. In summer the Sobra fare was €8.70. One-way fares apply equally in either direction, with port charges and VAT built in.

Polače has a summer fare only, €10.75 from Dubrovnik in 2026. When the catamaran starts calling there again, the 2027 price list will apply, and AOLPP has not published it yet.

Gruž in Dubrovnik, and Sobra as the winter end of the line

Gruž to Šipan, then across to Mljet

From Gruž the catamaran heads north-west to Šipanska Luka on Šipan, then crosses to Sobra on Mljet. In summer it continues along Mljet to Polače, and on some days in July and August on to Korčula and Ubli on Lastovo. TP Line does not publish distances.

Getting to Mljet out of season

• Head for Gruž

  The catamaran leaves from Gruž, Dubrovnik's main port, not the old-town harbour. Allow time to get there from the walled city.

• No Polače until summer

  From 28 September the catamaran stops at Sobra. For Mljet National Park out of season, you land at Sobra.

• Book online

  TP Line sells tickets through its web shop; its website now opens directly on the ticket sales page.

• Plan an overnight stay

  The afternoon boat reaches Sobra at 15:50 and the next boat back leaves at 06:00 or 06:15, so a winter visit to Mljet by catamaran means at least one night on the island.

• Driving? Use the ferry

  The catamaran takes foot passengers only. Cars reach Mljet on the separate Prapratno – Sobra car ferry from Pelješac.

Mljet National Park charges its own admission, separate from the boat fare, and its footpaths include one from Vrbovica to Polače. In winter the catamaran does not go beyond Sobra, so anyone heading for the park out of season lands there.

TP Line also runs line 9808 between Lastovo, Korčula and Dubrovnik, but its 2026 timetable does not call at Sobra in winter. That leaves line 9807 as Sobra's only catamaran link with Dubrovnik for as long as the winter timetable lasts. Drivers use the car ferry from Prapratno on the Pelješac peninsula, a separate line with its own timetable.
