Staying on the Crikvenica Riviera and fancy an hour or two on Krk without taking the car? The county passenger boat to Šilo is the way to do it. From 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 it leaves Crikvenica at 07:30, 09:30, 11:30, 13:30 and 15:30, and comes back from Šilo a quarter of an hour later each time, the final return being at 15:45.
That winter pattern applies Monday to Saturday; on Sundays the boat stays put. Summer is a different story, with departures almost every hour in July and August, according to the operator's annual timetable, and seven-day service in spring and September.
The route is run by Tramonto d.o.o., a Crikvenica company, and its timetable is published by the Town of Crikvenica and the Crikvenica County Port Authority. A single costs €3.88 and a return €7.75.

Crikvenica's town harbour and the quay at Šilo
Crikvenica town harbour
Boats leave from Crikvenica's town harbour on the Strossmayerovo šetalište promenade, one of the harbours managed by the Crikvenica County Port Authority. The exact boarding point is not given in the published notices; the operator, Tramonto, is based at number 4 on the same promenade, and the information line is 099 1669 669.
Šilo harbour (Krk)
On Krk the boat ties up in the small harbour of Šilo, in Dobrinj municipality. Return trips leave a quarter of an hour after each Crikvenica departure: 07:45, 09:45, 11:45, 13:45 and 15:45.
2.2 nautical miles from the Riviera to Krk
Primorje-Gorski Kotar County gives the route length as 2.2 nautical miles, from Crikvenica harbour across to Šilo on Krk, and says the trip takes a little under ten minutes. There are no intermediate stops; departures from the two sides are always exactly fifteen minutes apart.
Tips for a day across to Šilo
- No Sunday boat
From October to the end of March the boat runs Monday to Saturday only. There is no Sunday departure at all.
- Head back early
The last crossing from Šilo is at 15:45, so a winter visit to Krk by boat is a morning-and-lunch affair.
- Foot passengers only
Cars stay ashore: this is a foot-passenger service, so a rental car has to go to Krk by road.
- Call before holidays
The operator and the port authority list the same number for questions, 099 1669 669. Worth a call on public holidays or in rough weather.
- Summer is busier
The operator's annual timetable has sailings almost every hour between 06:30 and 23:00 in July and August, and daily service including Sundays from April to September.
A county-funded crossing
Crikvenica – Šilo is a county route, separate from the national network contracted by AOLPP. According to Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, a new six-year contract with the operator was signed in July 2024, with the county covering half the cost and Crikvenica and Dobrinj a quarter each. At the signing, Dobrinj's mayor recalled that the ferry Bodulka worked this crossing back in 1959.
Crikvenica harbour was also the stop for Jadrolinija's summer catamaran to Baška, Lopar and Rab, which finished for 2026 on 30 August. The Šilo boat, by contrast, runs all year, just less often in winter.
