Brestova – Porozina ferry (line 334): the 20-minute car ferry from Istria to Cres

If you are driving from Istria to Cres or Lošinj, this is the crossing you need. Jadrolinija's car ferry on line 334 shuttles between Brestova, below Plomin, and Porozina at the northern tip of Cres, taking 20 minutes, with up to ten sailings a day each way until the end of 2026.

If you are driving from Istria to Cres or Lošinj, this is the crossing you need. State ferry line 334 runs every day of the year between Brestova and Porozina, and since the low season began on 28 September the timetable has settled into a 90-minute rhythm: from Brestova at 06:45, 08:15, 09:45, 11:15, 12:45 and 14:15, then, after a break, at 17:15, 18:45 and 20:00. Sailings from Porozina leave 45 minutes earlier, from 06:00 to 19:30.

Two exceptions matter. Sundays and public holidays lose the early pair, 06:00 from Porozina and 06:45 from Brestova. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday an extra evening pair runs, at 20:30 from Cres and 21:00 from Istria. The summer timetable, with thirteen crossings each way and a first departure from Brestova at 00:30, ended on 20 September.

Line 334 is sailed by Jadrolinija, and the route belongs to the state network that AOLPP, Croatia's coastal shipping agency, puts out to contract. The 2027 timetable has not been released, so the times on this page are valid until 31 December 2026.

One price list for the whole year

Unlike most Croatian ferries, line 334 charges the same all year: €4.40 per adult, €2.20 for children from three up to twelve, and €4.30 for a bicycle. There is no return ticket in the price list, and the fare is identical in both directions.

Vehicle tickets cover the vehicle only. An ordinary car (5 m maximum length, 2 m maximum height) is €20.70; whoever sits inside, driver included, needs a €4.40 passenger ticket as well. A hire car is fine on this ferry; a camper van, or a caravan of 5 m or less, costs €34.40.

Passengers
Adult€ 4.40
Child aged 3–12€ 2.20
Bicycle€ 4.30
Island resident with AOLPP card€ 1.50
Vehicles (people pay separately)
Car up to 5 m long and 2 m high€ 20.70

Motorcycle or moped€ 8.50
Light trailer up to 3 m€ 14.10
Caravan or camper van up to 5 m€ 34.40
Babies younger than one travel on a parent's ticket; a one-, two- or three-year-old is given a zero-price ticket. Port dues and VAT are already in the prices. The resident fare is tied to an AOLPP island card, so visitors cannot use it.

A single year-round price list applies from 1 January to 31 December 2026; this line has no separate summer fares.   AOLPP / Jadrolinija – line 334 price list 2026 · 2026-10-09

Brestova below Plomin, Porozina on the tip of Cres

Brestova ferry landing

Brestova bb, road D402, Plomin · Kršan municipality · Istria County

Brestova is not a village but a ferry landing at the end of the D402 road on Istria's east coast, below the hill town of Plomin. Jadrolinija's ticket office here is staffed from an hour ahead of the day's first crossing until the final one leaves, so a ticket can be bought on arrival.

Porozina ferry landing (Cres)

Porozina bb, road D100, Cres · Town of Cres · Primorje-Gorski Kotar County

On Cres you land at Porozina, a small settlement on the island's northern tip. The ramp leads straight onto the D100, the main road south through Cres towards Lošinj; Jadrolinija points out that Beli is only a short drive away. The Porozina ticket office keeps the same hours as the one in Brestova.

Twenty minutes over the water to northern Cres

Between Istria's east coast and the northern tip of Cres the ferry makes no other call. AOLPP and Jadrolinija both give the one-way crossing as 20 minutes, and the timetable keeps a steady 45 minutes between a departure from Porozina and the next one from Brestova, except during the afternoon pause.

Tips for drivers heading to Cres and Lošinj

  • Your ticket is good all day

Line 334 is not one of Jadrolinija's reservation routes. Tickets carry a date rather than a sailing time, so if you miss the 12:45 you simply take the 14:15.

  • Mind the afternoon gap

Arrive at Brestova at 14:20 and the next ferry is at 17:15. If you are coming from Pula or Rijeka after lunch, aim for 14:15 or plan a later crossing.

  • Late ferries only at weekends

From Monday to Thursday the last crossing from Istria is at 20:00. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday a 21:00 sailing is added.

  • Luggage

Bags you carry yourself go free up to 20 kg under the line 334 tariff; above that the charge is €0.40 per 10 kg.

  • Where to pay

Buy at the Jadrolinija office on either landing, on jadrolinija.hr or in the mJadrolinija app. Each person in the car needs a ticket alongside the vehicle ticket.

Other ways onto Cres, and what lies beyond

Brestova is the natural crossing if you are already in Istria. Drivers starting from Rijeka can also reach Cres via the island of Krk, where Jadrolinija's line 332 runs from Valbiska to Merag on the east coast of Cres.

Once on Cres, the D100 carries on south to Lošinj. Mali Lošinj harbour is the base for the round-trip boat on line 310 to Unije and Susak, and for the Jadrolinija car ferry south to Silba, Olib and Zadar, which runs three days a week. Ilovik is reached by the small boat from Mrtvaška on southern Lošinj.

Brestova to Porozina: practical questions

Brestova to Porozina: how many minutes on board?

Twenty, in either direction, in both the AOLPP and the Jadrolinija versions of the timetable, and the boat calls nowhere else.

Do I need to book the Cres ferry in advance?

No. Line 334 has no vehicle reservations, and the ticket shows a date rather than a departure time, so any crossing that day will take you. Buy it at the landing, online or in the app.

Leaving Cres in the evening: what is the final departure?

At 19:30 from Porozina from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday there is one more, at 20:30.

Why is there no ferry in the middle of the afternoon?

The low-season timetable simply has no departure from Porozina between 13:30 and 16:30, or from Brestova between 14:15 and 17:15. The timetable does not give a reason.

Are fares higher in summer?

No. Line 334 keeps one 2026 tariff for every month: €4.40 for an adult and €20.70 for an ordinary car under 5 m, each occupant paying separately.

Will the Cres ferry take my rental car?

Yes. Line 334 is a car ferry and charges hire cars like any other car. Check your rental terms for island travel, which are set by the hire company, not the ferry.

Where exactly is Brestova?

On the east coast of Istria at the end of the D402 road, below Plomin, in Kršan municipality. It is a ferry landing with a ticket office rather than a village.
